OREGON PATIENT SAFETY COMMISSION
The Oregon Patient Safety Commission was launched in July 2007. The Commission helps organizations develop and implement patient safety programs in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and nursing homes.
The Commission's intent is to create a clear starting point and an objective way to measure Oregon's progress to a safe healthcare delivery system.
Although the goals for ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) have not been established yet, the Commission is focused on preventing harm events (i.e. eliminating foreign bodies left during surgery), using evidence-based best practices, providing risk assessment tools, developing a culture that supports learning and improvement and patient empowerment and creating connected systems of care in the community.
The Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center is proud to be a charter member of the Oregon Patient Safety Commission. As a charter member we have assisted the Commission in developing their ASC adverse event reporting form and developing an employee satisfaction survey that measures the culture of patient safety within the healtcare facility.
Look for our name under the ASC Participant section on the Commission's webpage.
